Every Week @ The Umbrella Workshop
Irish Whiskey, Poitín, East London Spirit & Agave Tasting
The Umbrella Workshop, the latest opening from the team behind The Sun Tavern and Discount Suit Company, have launched a series of Irish whiskey tastings every Saturday. With over 300 bottles of Irish whiskey, The Umbrella Project boasts the largest collection in London, and in the two hour tasting session the knowledgeable team will guide guests through a selection of the best, including a Poitín for good measure.
The sessions start every Saturday at 1pm and can be booked individually or privately for a group. Guests will be welcomed with a cocktail on arrival to showcase the versatility of the Whiskey and throughout the session they will have the opportunity to sample the spirits. Snacks will be supplied by neighbouring deli Provisions to accompany the tasting.

The knowledgeable bartenders will take everyone through the traditions of Irish distilling from triple distilled Single Malts to Single Pot Still whiskeys and the rich histories that shaped these spirits. Once a whiskey making powerhouse exporting to every corner of the globe and even outselling Scottish whisky in Scotland, the history of Irish whiskey is compelling and full of intrigue. From boom to bust, the industry suffered and was reduced to just two distilleries in the 80’s. Now showing a strong resurgence, there is no better time to learn about Irish whiskey distilling.
Once the tasting is complete, guests are invited to jump into a waiting black cab to continue their afternoon and evening at one of The Umbrella Project’s near-by award-winning bars; The Sun Tavern to continue the Irish whiskey education with its extensive list, or neighbourhood cocktail bar, Discount Suit Company for classic whiskey cocktails.
Other Tastings
Further to the Irish whiskey tastings, The Umbrella Workshop will also be hosting a range of private group tastings, including a specific Poitín Tasting, and for the agave lovers, a Tequila and Mezcal Tasting.
Each session is priced at £65 per person.
Where are we located
The Umbrella Workshop is located at 10 Cleeve Workshops. These buildings originally would have been used as workshops for specialist crafters back in the late 1800’s such as blacksmiths, armourers, weavers and many more. Today not much has changed, Cleeve Workshops is home to a community of like minded companies who care about their craft and their community. In the heart of Shoreditch, Cleeve Workshop’s is tucked away in a quiet serene neighbourhood that benefits from being in the centre of Shoreditch but also benefiting from the peace and quiet that is offered by Boundary Street.
