Dubonnet 1970’s

A bottle of Dubonnet Wine Aperitif, a fortified wine flavoured with herbs, spices, and quinine.

We estimate this was bottled in the 1970s.

Dubonnet was first sold by Joseph Dubonnet in response to a competition run by the French government who were looking for a way to encourage their Foreign Legion to drink quinine, a bitter substance used to combat malaria. Dubonnet was also known as the Queen Mother’s favourite drink.
